Dr. Bogus

My brother was vomiting,  feverish and has severe abdominal pain. Dr. Bogus admitted him to his hospital and told him he has gastritis and he needs to undergo several tests and procedures. 2 days passed and still my brother feels his condition was not improving. We transferred him to another hospital where we found out he has appendicitis. He had to undergo an emergency appendectomy and laparoscopy because of a ruptured appendix!

I had allergic rhinitis for 3 days and was followed by an asthma attack. I consulted Dr. Bogus and he said my lung sounds were not good. He requested for a Chest Xray (PA view). He looked at the plate and told me I had lower respiratory tract infection, he said it was Pneumonia. He even asked me if I wanted to be confined in the hospital so medications can be given through IV. I said no, I was okay. He prescribed 2 bronchodilators, a steroid inhaler and an antibiotic. You don’t want to know how much my bill was coz it was a HUGE amount. I went home, took my meds and 10 minutes later I collapsed, I had hand tremors and my BP raised. I knew something was wrong.

I consulted a 2nd doctor the following morning and was surprised he told me the dosage of the prescription meds were incorrect. He changed the antibiotic and reduced the doses of the bronchodilators. The worst part came hours after when my Hubby went back to Dr. Bogus’ hospital to get the official results of my Xray, and it was NEGATIVE! My lungs are clear! Turns out I was only having an asthma attack.

Geez, I wanna kill Dr. Bogus. Really. I want to pull his eyes out of their sockets!

In Which I am a Mother Not a Nurse

Motherhood brings with it a natural instinct for childcare. There are times when you wish you knew more about handling situations such as when your child is sick, recovering from illness or is suffering from a chronic disease. During these times, the best position to be in is to know what a NURSE would do in these kinds of situations.

The opposite happens to me when my children are not well. I lose all my nursing skills and worry a lot. Well, I guess worrying is an integral part of parenthood. You cannot flush it out from a mother’s system.

Sometimes I think things would be easier if I didn’t know quite so much about nursing.

The Gym and I

I feel that I need to lose my postpartum belly fast. I don’t want the tummy I see in the bathroom mirror everyday. I hate the CS scar, the stretch marks and the flab. It’s just not me. There maybe people who were not so agreeable to the idea of me enrolling in a gym class, but this is what I need. If I don’t do this for myself, nobody will.

2 hours of combo training with aero-dancing and weight training three to four times a week should do the trick.
